Green Data Center of the Year as part of the Data
Center Executive of the Year National Awards competition.

Damaged in an earthquake, the winning project renovation was designed by John Hara, principal of John Hara Associates Inc. 7.7.09 | New York, NY | Daniel J. Park won the 2009 Angelo Donghia Foundation Senior Scholarship Award. A senior BFA student at the New York School of Interior Design, Mr. Park will receive a $30,000 scholarship to help cover the cost of tuition, room and

with incurable diseases.

State Polytechnic University, died June 4. In 2001, he co-founded the Los Angles Institute of architecture and Design and helped to launch the Architecture + Design Museum. Mr. Zimmerman received a Lifetime Achievement Award for the Los Angeles chapter of the AIA in 1999.

7.6.09 | Washington, DC, White Plains, NY | Marriott International and Starwood Hotels &
Resorts Worldwide announced plans to introduce Cisco's TelePresence remote conferencing technology to several properties this
year.
Marriott is partnering with AT&T to bring the Cisco TelePresence
technology to Marriott, JW Marriott, and Renaissance properties in 25
cities. The company said the first meeting suites
would be operational by the end of October.
Starwood is working with Singapore-based Tata Communications
to bring Cisco TelePresence rooms to 10 of its hotels by the end of the
year. The first rooms will be in Sheraton properties and Westin properties. Telepresence technology allows small groups,
to use high-definition video and real-time audio to meet while in
multiple locations worldwide.

7.3.09 | Washington, DC | Leo A Daly's Washington office was selected by the government of the Republic of Chad to
provide architectural, engineering and landscape design for its new
embassy. The goal of
the project is to modernize the interior, exterior and landscape of the
building, built in the 1960s, which comprises approximately 8,300 sq. ft.
of three equally sized floors above ground, a full basement and a
mechanical penthouse. Leo A Daly will complete the restoration in two
phases.

Light is working with the realty group Kitson & Partners to construct
Babcock Ranch, an environmentally friendly city near Fort Myers, FL. Its
electricity will come from the world’s largest solar voltaic power plant,
a $300 million, 75-megawatt plant to be built on-site by Florida Power
& Light. will
include a smart grid to let residents monitor and adjust their energy
consumptions. In addition to having its electricity generated from solar
energy, the entire city is expected to have wireless Internet access and
electric-car chargers.Construction of the city center is scheduled to
begin in June 2010, with the first residential and commercial buildings
targeted for late 2010.

of the Smithsonian's Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum, effective
July 13. Since joining Cooper-Hewitt in 2001, Ms. Baumann has served as
director of development, director of external affairs and deputy
director. From 1995 to 2001, Baumann worked at The Museum of Modern Art, where she
raised funds for the museum's Yoshio Taniguchi building project among
other accomplishments. Ms. Baumann will serve as acting director while a 10-member

practicing architect, was named director for the University of Utah School of Architecture. Mr. Muir, who has worked as an adjunct professor at the university since 1993, has
